Well, we went to the Bonnie Raitt concert in Columbus Georgia on Saturday night. I've been to my share of concerts, but i've never heard ANYONE sing like Bonnie Raitt live- between her band, her guitar playing and singing, i was floored the entire show. Her band was amazing and included Mike Finnigan on piano/organ. He played on Jimi Hendrix's 'Electric Ladyland' and with lots of other good people.
I wasn't able to get any photos from this concert, security and ushers were everywhere and made sure NO ONE had a camera. The place was built as an opera hall and sounded GREAT, but the downside to these high-end places is you have no artist access and no photos.
There were few dry eyes when she played John Prine's 'Angel From Montgomery' which she made her own on her 1974 album 'Streelights' and the same goes for when she gave a pretty rare performance of 'I Can't Make You Love Me.' She closed the show with a really rockin' version of Elvis' 'Big Hunk O' Love'.
On our way home we drove into Montgomery, Alabama to finally visit the Hank Williams Museum. What a moving experience.
They wouldn't let you take photos in there, but the centerpiece of memorabilia is Hank's 1952 baby-blue Cadillac which of course he died in on January 1 1953.
A Hank Williams fan could spend hours in there. Some of the items are sad, they have the suit and shoes he died in on display as well as the microphone and mic stand he used at his last performance.
We visited this spot where Hank's funeral was held.
The scene on January 4 1953 when about 2750 people were inside and over 20,000 crowded outside.
Finally, we visited Hank and Audrey's gravesite.
