Starting Bid $4,000

Rare Signed King of Clubs Playing Card with Two Bullet Holes. The card, approx. 2 ½ in. x 3 ½ in., features two bullet holes (probably .38 calibre). Signed in ink by Hardin at the top, J.W. Hardin". After his 1894 release from prison for murdering Sheriff Charles Webb, Hardin moved to El Paso, Texas where pursued the practice of law. Hardin frequented the Acme Saloon and often exhibited his skill with a gun by setting up playing cards at the end of the bar and then plugging them full of holes. It was at the Acme Saloon where Hardin was gunned down and killed by John Selman on August 19, 1895. A fantastic memento of the Old West. In fine condition.

I've been reading about John Wesley Hardin lately. He was an obviously troubled, but fascinating character from a fascinating time in this country's history. Hardin was shot down in 1895 and is known as 'The Last Gunfighter.' If this is a genuine Hardin card, what a piece of history that would be.
