Well, Brooke & i went to the David Allan Coe show last night over in Pensacola at the Vinyl Music Hall. Pretty decent crowd size considering a wednesday night - about half the size of last time we were there which was on a weekend.
You never know what you're gonna get when you go to a DAC show - this time he opened up with several blues songs and spoke about his musical direction back in '69 when he recorded 'Penitentiary Blues'
Later he took us to to 'Songwriter Credit School' and played a medley of a lot of songs that he wrote for others...Elvis, Willie, Leon, Cash, Waylon, Paycheck just to name a few. Played 'Midnight Rider' and several Waylon songs. Before the show i told him how beautiful his '79 song 'Seven Mile Bridge' is & he agreed haha - i was hoping he might play it but alas no. Im pretty sure he's never played that live.
There is a ghostly woman lurking in the back of this photo.
Here is a little video clip i took of DAC performing 'Would You Lay With Me (In a Field of Stone)'
Also - ran into the mayor...the Mayor of Fun that is! Bean're. Nice guy.
I know we all have demon eyes but it was dark and taken with one of those phone cameras.
The painting David Uhl did of Bean're. Heh - Cool!
On the road.
