Taz DiGregorio RIP

Joe “Taz” DiGregorio, the longtime keyboardist for The Charlie Daniels Band, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, in a single-car accident in Cheatham County.
Mr. DiGregorio, 67, was a Southern Rock fixture who played with Daniels for more than 40 years. He co-wrote many of Daniels’ best-known songs, including “The Devil Went Down To Georgia,” “The Legend of Wooley Swamp” and “Simple Man. He was on his way to meet the Charlie Daniels Band tour bus when he wrecked on I-40.
“I am in shock now,” said Daniels, in a statement. “Taz was one of my best friends. The Charlie Daniels Band family has lost a great friend and musician. We traveled many miles together and shared so many nights on the road.”

I was fortunate to meet and talk with Taz last year at a Charlie Daniels concert in Pensacola - he was a very nice guy, a great pianist/keyboardist and played on every Charlie Daniels album.
