Yeah,real bummer,never understood why they added Joe Walsh to the band. He's great and all but the Eagles had their shit together before he showed up. I'll miss him more than Bowie. Bowie was good and he could deliver the goods but you had to sift through a lot of superficial bullshit. With Glenn it was no nonsense, straight from the heart. Sorely missed, RIP and Godspeed. Thanks for the memories...

i guess walsh was bernie leadon's replacement - although in my opinion he only had one great album with the eagles which is of course 'hotel california'. 'the long run' is pretty good, but to me easily the least of their discography. you're right about frey's 'no nonsense' style its kind of a blue collar type of songwriting and he and the other eagles did it very well. bowie on the other hand just encompassed so many different ideas and styles he couldn't stick to just one specific writing approach.
